Remote access projects place rigorous demands on the availability of central communication components. Access to central data repositories and resources must be ensured "around the clock", 365 days a year.
Secure High Availability Services ensure maximum availability and fail safe security of central systems. The HA software offers you the following performance range (based on the number of installed gateways):
- one Secure Enterprise Gateway, e.g. this involves backup functionalities
-> Secure Enterprise Failsafe Server (FS Server) - multiple Secure Enterprise Gateways, i.e. in addition to backup functionalities this promotes uniform system utilization.
-> Secure Enterprise Load Balancing Server (LB Server)
FS Servers and LB Servers are configured redundantly for security reasons. Configuration changes, updates, and upgrades of failsafe or load balancing servers, are conveniently executed via the HA Manager's Windows user interface (the HA Manager is included with the product).
How it works:
The HA services basically check three parameters of each active Secure Gateway as control instance: Tunnel utilization, availability, and data throughput. If the Secure Client dials-in to the corporate network, the HA services take over the evaluation of the above parameters, and assign the tunnel to the available gateway, or to the Secure Gateway with the lightest load. The HA services work in accordance with the client-server principle.
HA services support load balancing and automatic backup for any number of Secure Gateways and tunnels that must be managed. Adding additional gateways is a simple procedure. It merely involves an entry in the HA server. The advantage: There is no need to reconfigure the client software. Likewise, there are no downtimes or standstills when removing a Secure Gateway for repair or maintenance work, for example.
