NCP Secure Enterprise Load Balancing Server
Your full-coverage insurance against system failures
The NCP Secure Enterprise Load Balancing Server (LB Server) is always used if multiple NCP Secure Gateways are operated in parallel. The focus is placed on load balancing (managing all available tunnels over all Secure Gateways), and availability of the individual systems. A defective gateway is automatically excluded from the distribution routine. Defective means that the Secure Gateway no longer responds, for example if there are hardware malfunctions (power supply, LAN adapters, motherboards etc.), operating system malfunctions, program crashes, or if the connection to the LB Server is interrupted. This also applies when a VPN system is switched off for service reasons. The load will always be distributed over those Secure Gateways that are still available. Likewise, the LB Server is designed redundantly for security reasons.
In most cases the software is installed on two of the existing Secure Server Systems, however it can be optionally setup on two independent computers.
The system is configured via the High Availability Manager (delivered with the product), which can be setup on any console computer in the LAN.
The Secure Enterprise LB Server software is highly scalable and can optionally be extended through simple
updates and upgrades with additional functionalities and additional users.
