Virtual Private Network
Layer 2 Tunneling processes (RFC 2341, 2661) are based on the PPP protocol standard and offer all technical pre-requisites for efficient communication between distributed local networks and a central data network. They offer the same for communication between mobile and stationary PC workstations and a central data network. Dial-up is possible over all networks and is platform independent. All popular protocols are supported which means, in addition to IP, that there is also support for IPX NetBios and SNA (native). L2TP allows the establishment of all VPN types: End to End, End to Site, and Site to Site. Layer 2 Tunneling processes support point to point (server-server) and point to multi-point (server-client) connections. Authentication occurs over PAP or CHAP in order to guarantee data and security NCP has extended the Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol in the area of security with:
The L2Sec Tunneling Process (Layer 2 security) offers all prerequisites for a highly secure and highly performant data transfer. L2Sec offers end to end security and has proven itself in major VPN projects.
